The Community

The community around the Parish of St. Augustine inhabits the blocks around the Church and Priory extending from Strait Street to the area around Great Siege Road referred to as the Port of Marsamxett. The community grew around the area of Il-Mandragg and although the locals are the City dwellers (Il-Beltin) they are also proud of being Mandraggara (inhabitants of the Manadragg area). The Community Interpretation Centre is directed at strengthening the local spirit through heritage, arts and culture. The communities in Valletta have been impacted by migration out through sub-urbanisation.
